Boil Water Alert for Poinciana

A boil-water alert has been issued for parts of Poinciana due to a ruptured water line. According to the Toho Water Authority, the line has since been repaired, but more than 1,000 people still need to boil their water before using it.The affected areas include the Belltower Crossing, the Venezia Subdivision, Bobcat Court and Bobcat Lane. All water should be boiled for at least one minute, including water used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth.

Man Injured in Kissimmee Shooting

A man suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon following a shooting in Kissimmee.

Officers with the Kissimmee Police Department said they arrived at 914 Woodside Circle sometime around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call of a shooting.

They found a man at the site with a gunshot wound. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital.

Witnesses told the police they heard the shots, but did not see the shooter. An agency K-9 dog could not locate the suspect. Police said the victim did not reside at the apartment complex where the incident occurred.

Three Arrested for Child Abuse

Sameena Jaweed, 41, her husband Sadaqat Jaweed and son Farqan Jaweed, 22, were arrested and charged with battery, child abuse and false imprisonment after a tip from the Department of Children and Families led them to their home on Warrior Lane in Kissimmee. Read more

Robbery Suspect Arrested

The man responsible for multiple robberies spanning Orange County, Kissimmee, St. Cloud and South Florida has finally been arrested. Ray Frierson Jr., 39, was arrested in Brevard County after robbery detectives from across Central Florida showed keen interest in him as his description matched a number of the robberies, including the one that took place on May 1 at Wachovia Bank on Narcoosee Road.
